Translational Sensory and Circadian Neuroscience Unit (MPS/TUM/TUMCREATE) participates in the 35th SLTBR Conference in Prague

From 20-22 June 2024, the Translational Sensory and Circadian Neuroscience (MPS/TUM/TUMCREATE) Unit attended the Society for Light Treatment and Biological Rhythms (SLTBR) 35th Annual Meeting in Prague, Czech Republic. The conference provided an international platform for exchanging scientific ideas, and our team had the opportunity to showcase ongoing research through talks and poster presentations.

Key presentations included talks by Dr Anna M. Biller on “Determinants of sleep under real-world conditions: Preliminary results from the longitudinal, 12-month Ecology of Human Sleep (EcoSleep) cohort study”, Niloufar Tabandeh on “Classification of natural indoor and outdoor scenes from radiometric, photometric, and colorimetric features” and Dr. Johannes Zauner on “Reproducible analysis of personal light exposure data with LightLogR”.

Complementing these talks, our poster presentations by Resshaya Roobini Murukesu, Lucien Bickerstaff, Hannah Sophie Heinrichs, Salma M. Thalji, Zahrah Alkaff and Carolina Guidolin, covered a wide range of topics, from light exposure intervention to human visual sensitivity, time-of-day variations, circadian rhythm, and methodological considerations in research. Both the talks and posters were met with interest and engagement from fellow conference attendees, fostering thoughtful discussions.

We are also pleased to announce that two of our members, Niloufar Tabandeh and Zahrah Alkaff, received the Student Travel Grant Award for their submissions. Moreover, a special highlight of the conference is the election of our very own Prof. Dr. Manuel Spitschan to the SLTBR Board of Directors.

Overall, our participation in the SLTBR Conference 2024 was a highly valuable experience, and we look forward to continuing our contributions to the scientific community.
