2024 lab retreat on Zugspitze

From 7-9 August 2024, the Translational Sensory and Circadian Neuroscience (MPS/TUM/TUMCREATE) Unit went on its annual lab retreat at the Schneefernerhaus environmental research station, sitting at 2650 m above sea level just below the summit of the Zugspitze in Germany. Surrounded by stunning views, our team first reviewed their Mission Statement. Prof. Paul Gamlin (University of Albama at Birmingham) very kindly visited for a few hours, sharing with us the discovery of melanopsin and ipRGCs, as well as giving useful insight into applying for grants. Our group got the privilege to go on a tour of the Schneefernerhaus station, which was a fun and captivating experience, before heading to the very top of the Zugspitze, where we all got to reflect on what we do well and what we could improve on as a group.

Each day was wrapped up by an informal session where lab members shared their passion, further strengthening the relationships within the team!

Overall, the 2024 lab retreat was a great success, reuniting members from all divisions around inspiring discussions and cheerful moments!
